I
am currently a Visiting Research Fellow at Refugee Studies Centre (RSC), University of Oxford, and member at Institute for Migration Research and Intercultural Studies (IMIS), Universität Osnabrück. I am also
co-founder and co-organiser of Netzwerk Flüchtlingsforschung – a German refugee
research network. Previously, I have taught at Institute for Social Science,
Humboldt Universität, Berlin and at Otto-Suhr Institute for Political Science,
Freie Universität Berlin.
I
received my Dr. phil. (summa cum laude) from Freie Universität Berlin and I conducted research
for my dissertation in Australia as Visiting Fellow at Swinburne Institute
for Social Research, Melbourne in 2007-2008, 2009 (as Endeavour Fellow)
and 2011. I was also a Visiting Fellow at RSC, Oxford in 2010-2011.
My
current research is concerned with refugee protection, in particular with
asylum and refugee resettlement policies. I am also very interested in and have
gained considerable research expertise about political memory and politics of
migration, specifically their intersection and their relationship to political
belonging. My research is focused geographically on Australia, Germany and more
generally, Europe.
